Lent

Lent is a time of preparation for the initiation of people into the Christian life in baptism. It is also a time for the church to journey together toward Easter and the reaffirmation of the baptismal covenant. Lent is not about being miserable, sad, and funereal in anticipation of Good Friday. The Sundays of Lent are not part of the forty days of Lent and so remain "little Easters," as are all Sundays. Fasting and giving up something can be part of Lenten disciplines, but so can taking on some things.

Easter is the most important day in the Christian Calendar.

We believe that Christ died on the cross for the Sin of the world and that he rose again, 3 days later was resurrected.

It is the day in the Christian calendar that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is the most important day in the calendar.

Factoid:

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon on or after March 21; therefore, the date varies from March 22 to April 25.

The calculations for the date of Easter are somewhat complicated. In the Western Church, Easter has not fallen on the earliest of the 35 possible dates, March 22, since 1818, and will not do so again until 2285. It will, however, fall on March 23 in 2008, but will not do so again until 2160. Easter last fell on the latest possible date, April 25, in 1943 and will next fall on that date in 2038. However, it will fall on April 24, just one day before this latest possible date, in 2011
